MISSION: The mission of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. (SVA) is to enrich and support the learning of Bridgeport’s Public School students through the involvement of volunteers from Bridgeport and surrounding communities.

WHAT WE DO: SVA is a non-profit organization that provides volunteer services to Bridgeport Public Schools. SVA recruits, trains and places volunteers and also raises funds to support programs for city students. SVA sponsors an annual, citywide Read Aloud Day each fall during which readers are placed in every pre-kindergarten through sixth grade class in the school system. Many of these participants join us as ongoing volunteers reading books to classes and tutoring or mentoring individual students throughout the remainder of the school year.
