Read Aloud Day
Writer and cartoonist Marc Tyler Nobleman reads his book “Boys of Steel – The Creators of Superman” to a sixth grade class for Read Aloud Day 2008. Over 600 volunteers joined SVA to share the joy of reading with every pre-kindergarten through 6th grade class in the Bridgeport Public Schools on October 22, 2009. SVA provided the engaging children’s books which were read to the students and then donated to the classroom libraries. Many volunteers found the experience so rewarding that they have chosen to continue volunteering with our students as ongoing readers, tutors and mentors.
